Purely Decadent Soy Delicious®
Review by Chicago Sun-Times

Times are a changin'.

Consumer's might have been slow in the past to catching on to the benefits of soy, but thanks to company's such as Turtle Mountain the message is rapidly spreading.

Turtle Mountain has churned out a line a products that is guaranteed to elevate one's opinion of soy-based foods.

Point in case, a co-worker recently decided to start a diet. This person loves everything from A-Z, especially when you get to C, which in her mind can only stand for chocolate.

When she saw the containers of what appeared to be ice cream, she picked a flavor -- chocolate mint-- and went for it.

Sometimes testing products can be a sneaky business, especially when you are looking for unsolicited responses. I kept my mouth shut about the soy and let her walk away with the flavor of her choice.

I guess the question on everyone's mind is couldn't she tell it wasn't the real deal.

Turtle Mountain devised quite a marketing coupe, creating a a package similar to the famous Vermont-based company named after two guys.

In fact, another person in the newsroom saw the product and called out that very name.

But back to my girl and her Soy Delicious Chocolate Mint Madness. An hour later she was by my desk and I asked what she thought of the product.

"It was good."

Hmmm, had she read the label?

"You know that was soy," I said.

She looked aghast and then pleased, she had found a product that she enjoyed, one that didn't make her feel guilty.

I choose another target, a guy this time, and offered him one of the frozen novelty bars. Again to my surprise, he liked the product.

The column wouldn't be complete without my opinion, so I took a pint of the Soy Delicious Praline Pecan home and all I can say is this is one grand substitute. I loved it!

The products are made with organic ingredients that includes organic soymilk; organic brown rice syrup; organic safflower oil, and organic evaporated cane juice. All of the products are kosher certified.

I also tried the Soy Decadent Swinging Anna Banana and I must say those that are fans of the two guys' banana flavor ice cream will not be disappointed. Turtle Mountain didn't monkey around with their chunky variety, which is packed with walnuts and chocolate-flavored flakes.

Turtle Mountain Purely Decadent Soy Non Dairy Frozen Desserts are available at Whole Foods, Hyde Park Co-Op, select Treasure Island and Dominick's stores.
